"The Repentant" Antique Print Series De La Cruz Signed

Description

This is a unique paper collage work using an original antique photogravure. It is from the “Antique Print Series” of American artist Jerry De La Cruz (b 1948, Denver, CO). The image itself is9” high by 9.5” wide. This is mounted on thick, 100% rag paper.
The subject is a surreal juxtaposition of images with a religious theme.
Across the top the viewer looks down on a contemporary international crowd milling about with luggage. Across the bottom is the original photogravure of a priest in white robes kneeling
and praying upward outside of a large old church with stained glass windows. A large figure also kneels on the left facing the priest. He is older and poorer, his hands held in front of his chest. The work is titled “The Repentant.” The palette is gray tones on the bottom and full color on the top. The work is in pristine condition and signed front lower left by the artist.
